My kids and I are reading William Carrey's biography; the above is one of his quotes. I read the quote yesterday for the first time. I was immediately encouraged to see the words on paper for what I feel in my heart. I even decided that I would print it, and post it somewhere in my house for our family to continually keep in mind.
Then, last night, my husband spoke to me of a challenge that he felt the Lord asking us to obey. This challenge will push us far outside our comfort zones, and therefore made him (my husband), in part, question his own sanity. If it wasn't for the moment while reading Carrey's biography, followed by a divinely-appointed visit from a friend later that afternoon, I propbably would have voted Ben momentarily insane, and been tempted to buck my husband's leading.
Regardless of the God-stamped moments in the day, isn't it incredible how easy it is to believe God for great things, and expect great things from Him...that is, until the moment of the decision lies before us? It's that sometimes huge step of obedience that is most difficult. But, I'm going to close my eyes and jump. Along with God's blueprint for husbands & wives, historical and personal history have shown that the Lord is ardently faithful, and able to be glorified through any situation!
