The Onion God
Some think being a Christian is about whether or not we believe that yes, there is a God. At this point in history even that has become a great morsel of knowledge that many prefer to reject. However, there is more to Christianity, and more to this life, than simply believing that a Divine being who loves us far more than we could fathom, is for real.
I imagine it like this: believing He exists is simply the outer layer of the onion. Every situation in our lives presents us with an invitation to cut away at another layer. Each layer represents a new aspect of our Creator to discover; delving us into a deeper knowledge of who He is. The amazing thing about the onion, is that as the Creator is limitless, so is the onion. (Would God be anything other?) Therefore, every time we think we've reached the core and attained the ultimate in understanding, or rather containing, all of who God is in our very limited brains, we find out...there is more!
So, this is my challenge...no matter where you are in the process, pick up your knife and decide to go deeper. There will always be more of Him to discover while we still have breath to breathe. You will never be disappointed in taking up the challenge to find out what new understanding lies behind the next layer... "Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near," ~ Isaiah 55:6.
